About the role
We are looking for an engineer who can explore AI capabilities and turn promising ideas into useful business applications. You will work with domain specialists to identify problems, build prototypes, test them against realistic cases and take validated solutions into production with the delivery team. We define the business outcome and acceptance criteria before choosing the technology, validate outputs, scope tool permissions, include required approval for business actions and make uncertainty and failed processing visible to the people responsible. You enjoy experimentation and can also maintain what you build.
What you’ll do
- Build AI applications for document understanding, retrieval, structured extraction, classification and actions
- Implement model API calls, retrieval and tool use with clear input and output contracts
- Create evaluation datasets with domain specialists, including exceptions and cases needing review
- Compare approaches on accuracy, latency, operating cost and maintainability, and document the evidence
- Connect prototypes to business systems and help prepare deployment, monitoring and support
- Version prompts, configurations and evaluation results so changes can be reproduced
- Follow through on failures, user feedback and production improvements
What you’ll bring
- Strong programming in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript, API development, debugging and source control
- Practical experience with model APIs and at least one working AI application
- The ability to evaluate output quality, explain a failure and improve through measured changes
Nice to have
- Retrieval-augmented generation, vector search or document processing
- Agent workflows, Copilot Studio or Azure AI services
- Enterprise applications or finance and operations workflows
