D365 Finance and Operations Technical Consultant

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on D365 technical consultant who can translate business requirements into dependable technical solutions. You will work with Finance and SCM functional consultants, integration engineers and customer stakeholders, taking ownership from technical design through deployment and production use. Use AI tools for research, coding, testing and documentation, with review and verification of the output, and help connect automation and AI to D365 processes with appropriate permissions, validation and traceability. You understand the business impact of code, question unclear requirements and follow problems through to resolution.

What you’ll do

• Review requirements, clarify business rules and dependencies, and agree the technical approach
• Develop X++ extensions, forms, tables, classes, batch processes and data entities with supported patterns
• Build D365-side services, APIs and business events with the integration engineers
• Develop or enhance reports and support data migration requirements
• Diagnose errors, performance problems, failed batch jobs and integration failures, and explain the root cause
• Follow code review, testing, source control and deployment practice, including regression checks
• Maintain technical documentation, communicate risks and help junior developers grow

What you’ll bring

• Strong practical X++, object-oriented design, extensions, Chain of Command and debugging in D365 F&O
• Understanding of data entities, batch processing, security roles and the technical side of transactions
• Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, build and deployment processes and production troubleshooting
